About Us

Narada Gana Sabha provides a platform for both renowned and emerging artists. It hosts year-round performances by leading South Indian and Hindustani classical musicians, as well as Bharatanatyam and other Indian classical dance forms.

Narada Gana Sabha was started on 9.2.1958 by the residents of North Mylapore and is a "not-for-profit" under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act.

Why the name Narada Gana Sabha?

Narada, evered as the originator of Carnatic music, inspired Purandaradasa to compose the monumental piece "Sri Gananatha", symbolizing the divine fusion of music and grace. Thus, the name "Narada Gana Sabha" reflects the inseperable bond between Narada and Gana (music).

Silver Jubilee

Celebrations

During the Silver Jubilee year of the Sabha (1983 Febrary), we had a festival programme representing all the art forms of India, thereby covering the spirit of national integration through dance and music.

Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Former President of India

A red letter day of the sabha when Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India, inaugurated the Golden Jubilee celebrations. The event also honoured several other esteemed guests.

Diamond Jubilee

The Sabha celebrated its Diamond Jubilee from February 2018 to February 2019 with monthly programmes and special festivals. The finale on 14th February 2019 was presided over by Thiru K. Pandiarajan, Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture, Govt. of Tamil Nadu. Philanthropist and art patron Dr. Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti, dancer Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, and theatre artiste S Varadarajan were offered felicitations.
